What does "Subscribe" mean?

Housekeeping for the Lived Experience Guide site

Substack pages

On an official Substack page the word “subscribe” has a different connotation than what I use here on the Lived Experience Guide pages.

I invite you to carefully look at the “following” window or page that opens to verify it’s doing what you want to do.

Lived Experience Guide pages

I’ve attempted to alter the “subscribe” button to read, No thanks, or some other phrase to mean you are NOT paying any money or putting yourself on some kind of list.

I invite you to carefully look at the “following” window or page that opens to verify it’s doing what you want to do. I have not found all the intricacies of official Substack infrastructure to confidently feel I’ve made certain of that on my pages.

Throughout the Lived Experience Solutions and Guide publication, when you see a button touting "Subscribe" — it is supposed to mean:

"Join the free e-mail list to receive notifications when an article, essay, musing or other sharing is added.”

It’s a notification to those who choose to be informed when a new article appears; there is no advertising.

It does NOT mean you are added to my normal e-mailing list which can include advertising. To be added to “that” list, you must fill out my Constant Contact form. Ask me about it, if that's what you want. Use the button below to connect.
